Confirmed from Wilcox Warnes Nature Sanctuary's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 5 mentions

“If you love a quiet stroll through a native woodland, you will love this park!”

A peaceful place for a short hike through tall trees and over streams. The loop is less than a mile.

First and foremost, this is a nature preserve, not a city or county park. It is privately owned but very generously open to the public for passive recreation. Trails are maintained by volunteers. Nature comes first, humans second. That said, it is a beautiful respit from subdivisions and strip malls.

★★★★★ — Jeffrey , Jun 2021

Easily one of the most natural trails you could hope to find in suburbia. May it last forever. Not long, very natural, decently maintained, quieter than could be hoped. Love it.

★★★★★ — Nick , Nov 2025

Came here to test out new hiking boots, it was wet, muddy and a great time. Took about 45 minutes to walk both trails.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Wilcox Warnes Nature Sanctuary

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
