Confirmed from Winding Stairs Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Relaxed park featuring waterfalls (including the namesake Winding Stairs), plus hiking trails and picnic tables.
What runners say about Winding Stairs Park
“Park was clean and grounds were maintained well.”
“like the paved, short, lookout trail, beautiful waterfalls, creeks flowing through, and dirt paths of different lengths to fun destinations.”
“There is a nice cement pathway for wheelchair accessible people, and it made it nice for my little dog and I to walk along on.”
Neat little place to explore and do a little hike. It’s a bit steep going down to the falls and coming back, but there are well placed stairs and handrails. Much of the area was pretty wet and slick in spots, so the stairs and handrails were helpful. Neat little spot hidden off the main road in Lafayette.
Seriously one of the most beautiful trails ever! I will warn you though it is not for the weak hearted, they have accessible overlooks that are nice but to get down to the waterfall there are several steps that you must also come back up.
Amazing that this place exists where it does. The geology and hydrology that created this place is mindblowing. What a great place to spend a few hours, get a good workout and enjoy nature's beauty! Definitely take a picture of the map. Not all trails are on it, but all official trails are marked.
I ❤️ this park! It has something for everyone.. like the paved, short, lookout trail, beautiful waterfalls, creeks flowing through, and dirt paths of different lengths to fun destinations. There is gorgeous nature surrounding you at every turn!

“Some of the trails have extremely steep, straight down drop-offs and all it would take for a tragic accident with a little one would be a small misstep or to slip.”
“Public restrooms and a picnic pavilion are adjacent to the parking lot and trail heads.”
