Confirmed from Wintergarden's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Wintergarden
“Well maintained trails that wander through a variety of habitats: mature hardwoods, prairie, and wetlands.”
“Beautiful hiking paths and lots of dog friendly areas to spy on other people's dogs when you don't own one.”
“Beautiful place, if you’re quiet and pay close attention you’ll see deer and other wildlife!”
I don’t know what I’d do without this place! A beautiful, well-kept and tranquil place for a run, walk, or adventure with the little ones. We love our BG parks! ❤️
Had a very rare experience while hiking here - a handful of deer were just few feet away and seemed reasonably content with me being right next to them! Took the outer-most loop and it came to be 2 miles on the dot and took roughly 45 minutes. Prairie, marsh, woods, and wetland areas throughout.
Really nice walking trails full of trees, birds and deer. The grassy meadow is a rare treat. Well planned, well marked, well maintained. Lots of benches to rest and take it all in. Not too busy during the week.
Beautiful trail. Dog friendly, wide open walkway. The trail is quite and serine. During the fall you’re surrounded by all the leaves changing color. Highly recommend!

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadwater — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
