Confirmed from Wooded Trail System at Union University's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Wooded Trail System at Union University
“Great walking and bike trail that is well maintained and hidden across the street from the school.”
“Wooded trails great for hiking, running, or biking.”
“But the trails were nice and well marked.”
This was a gem to find as an out of towner looking for somewhere to trail run. Yes parking was hard to find but once there you'll never forget. Parking is in the lot across from Providence Hall. I didn't really like having to walk over to the trails and cross the road. Luckily it wasn't busy.
Nice little trail. Around 2 miles, pretty woods, nice view of Union University campus too!
It's a hidden gem in Jackson. There's not many places you can go in the city and have miles of hiking and bike riding trails. It's always a fun and safe place to go with the kids!
Great running and MTB biking trails. Easy to Moderate difficulty, with mini skills loop. 10km Total distance.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
