Confirmed from Yant Flat Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking area featuring a straightforward trek with colorful rock formations and views.
What runners say about Yant Flat Trailhead
“This place is just as beautiful as White Pocket but much more accessible.”
“Fairly easy hike until you get to the Candy Swirls and then you can get as technical as you desire.”
Yant Flat is great and a hidden gem. When I went on a Sunday in April at 12 pm. We were the only guests there. It's very georgous and only 9 miles from i15. The hike is not at all strenuous and short. About 1 mile from the parking area. Children and dogs can do this short walk hike easily.
DO NOT DRIVE IN FROM ST GEORGE GO IN FROM LEEDS. The road from St George is a little bit treacherous and you need a minimum of an all-wheel drive with high clearance. The road washboard cats are so close together that you can hydroplane and I was in a four-wheel drive.
i’m here to clear the air on directions to this place. map to this location and take the left most trail (it has a few boulders marking it) it’s a super easy 20ish minute hike. there is some deep sand spots which can be difficult. if you can load up the anna viewpoint trail that’s the one you can take.
Spent about 3 hours out here on the morning of 5/5/20. GO early, it gets hot and the light is harsh for photos. We got in 4.75 miles in total. The trail in is @1 mile, the last 1/4 mile is in deep sand.
Trail conditions & character
“The hike is straightforward, I would suggest budgeting a good amount of time just to take in the views and climb around on the rocks a bit.”
“If you come to a horse shoe at the end of you r hike then you know you took the wrong one and you need to turn around and take the trail directly across the parking lot.”
“Yant Flat is about 1 1/2 hour drive from the St George Utah, airport.”
“Take that left and follow the trail about 1/3 mile to where the trail goes left or right at a pretty steep drop off to the Candy Cliff rocks.”
“Go left and after 100' or so look for some cairns leading down the sandy/rocky embankment to the sandstone cliffs.”
“GO early, it gets hot and the light is harsh for photos.”
