We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Zach's Lookout yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Zach's Lookout

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (15 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“The hike is beautiful because 3 quarters of the hike there is a over of Seattle but the actual Zach’s look out is covered of fully grown pine trees so it blocks the view.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Very peaceful and nice hike”

Zach's Lookout is a great hike and I would rate it as a moderate hike. Elderly people or young children would be able to accomplish this hike with a little difficulty. However, your average fit adult could do this hike with pretty much no difficulty. We went at the beginning of April of 2020 and it was a great hike.

★★★★★ — Dominic , Apr 2020

Moderate to difficult hike for flatlanders. 1,000 ft in elevation change. Beautiful views.

★★★★★ — Patty , Nov 2020

Totally worth the hike to see all this beautiful landscape... love this place, and so does my dog.

★★★★★ — Joan , Apr 2024

The path to the falls is quick compared to the lookout and there's usually a lot of people, but past that the trail is long and mostly unmarked, but stick to the road and it's not too bad. A few trees were blocking the path to the lookout, which made it difficult on bike.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
