Confirmed from Abrego Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Abrego Trailhead
This is one of several access points for the Juan Bautista de Anza trail that runs along the West side of the Santa Cruz river. The hiking trail has a rich history. The portion in the Green Valley/Sahuarita area extends 11 miles.
Looks like a nice spot to head out riding on the trail. Nice parking facilities with plenty of room for your house trailer in the gravel parking pull off area.
03/09/24. Was great to see the Green Valley amateur ham radio group. I apologize if the name is incorrect, but they were out at this location today and it was interesting to see their antennas. I wanted to ask if they'd heard any "chatter." :) Had a great walk. Just had to avoid the mud. ......... Simply beautiful
Nice views, connects to a national trail that runs thru the length of Green Valley. Trail surface good for walking, jogging or biking. There is a covered pavilion with tables. Dog friendly path, but owners are not picking up after their pets. That was not good…

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
