Confirmed from Armstrong Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Shady park with creeks & trail access offering a playground, picnic areas & athletic fields/courts.
What runners say about Armstrong Park
“Love this park its always clean and a great place to take the kids and dogs.”
“One of the beautiful things about this Park is that it is small.”
“Also we call it the shady park because it has a lot of trees around the play ground to keep us cool even when it's 100 degrees Fahrenheit.”
“It's quiet and pretty peaceful.”
Greenways trail is paved which is nice for biking, walking, running and roller blading. Only 1 point where you have to leave the park and cross the street to continue the trail. As a trailhead you can walk from Armstrong all the way through the north end of the high point university campus.
Such a great park! We take the kids with their bikes because there are great paved trails around. Pros -Shaded so it stays cool -Trails so the kids can walk, run, bike -picnic shelter-great for eating lunch -not busy-generally empty or 1 other family Cons -there may be a snake near the creek
I absolutely love the trees especially in the spring. The stream of water has been restored and there are different tiny species of life inside, which the kids love walking along the edge to catch tad poles and frogs. You'll also see a variety of breeds of dogs at this park, it is a pet friendly place.
This place is great for a number of reasons. It has an amazing little park great tennis/Pickleball courts a baseball field that you can get on and actually practice baseball if you need to and it’s part of the Greenway lotta walking a lot of beautiful scenery.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
