Confirmed from Deep River Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Deep River Trail
3 miles walk of paved road and hike trail track, lots of things to see if you look enough, birds and turtles sun bathing in the floating logs and high stones. Lots of bench to rest and dog friendly trail.
Woods nature type trail that runs adjacent to High Point Lake. The trail itself is mostly shaded and has red-white blazes for markers. Has LOTS of roots, some hills, bridges, a small boardwalk, and can be uneven at spots. There are several places that you can get right up to the lake.
Nice and wide trail. Trail just ended at a road and I did not feel comfortable walking with my pup along the road to pick up a new trail. The flashing pedestrian crosswalk was nice.
A very nice Trail with several different length possible. It is following the shoreline of the lake so year round you can see all kinds of different animals.
Trail conditions & character
“Some root intrusion along the path has caused the asphalt trail to deflect upward, so cyclists should be aware.”

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
