Confirmed from University Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about University Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (101 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“The scenery was cool and beautiful also saw some stuff of Epstein and Trump and that was a little weird.”

Excellent elevated wide boardwalk through woods and wetlands. Mostly shaded with some areas of sun. Enough incline in spots to make you expend a little extra effort.

★★★★☆ — Bill , Jun 2023

This is the perfect place to walk on a rainy day if you want to avoid the mud. The boardwalk is beautiful and walking this section was around 2 miles round trip. You get a nice view of Deep River and it goes back through some neighborhoods. A little uphill at points but not too bad.

★★★★★ — Emily , Jan 2021

Best park for refreshments, we can enjoy the view of nature.mostly we used to go for walk. We can take our pets too.

★★★★★ — Queen , Feb 2024

Best walks of my life were done here. Too bad there are not enough restrooms around. Sometimes I want to walk longer distance but afraid I must need the restroom and not enough available.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at University Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
