Confirmed from Atwood Mountain Bike Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Public park with picnic tables and well-maintained mountain biking trails for all skill levels.

“Wonderful, peaceful and Super Friendly Place for MTB , Hiking and many more.”
I have Mt. biked 20 plus years and throughout the country. Atwood trails are in the top 5 that I have ever ridden. I am fortunate to live close by and we are all fortunate to have a park district employee who maintains these trails. Thanks go out to S.F. for his dedication towards Mt biking trail upkeep.
Best mountain bike trail I have been too by far. If you enjoy fast paced trails with no trees or bumps in the way then you would love it here. There are a lot of uphills when you get deeper into the trails but the downhill trails make it 100% worth the effort!
Beautiful, well maintained mountain bike network with trails for riders of all skill levels. A must visit ride location in Northern Illinois / Southern Wisconsin area.
This park has legit MTB flow trails. Not a root or rut to be found. The blue loops are short on miles, so be sure you hit everything both directions and you’ll have fun going both ways. The best downhill flow trail is Big Wheel.

Plan your run at Atwood Mountain Bike Park
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
