Confirmed from Aurora Reservoir Trail Access' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Aurora Reservoir Trail Access
“This is a very nice nearly 9 mile long trail with beautiful nature views.”
This is a lovely trail all paved and nice and wide so there's plenty of room for all of the cyclists and all of the dog owners to peacefully interact. It can get busy on Saturdays.
Easy access and great place to walk and see nature. Update 5/2/2026; Beautiful day here. 70F. Sunny with a light cool breeze blowing off the lake. A lot of bikes going around the lake on the path. They can come up on you and your family fairly quickly.
I went for a ride on my electric skateboard about 5.5 miles, 11 miles total there and back around the trial. The trail is smooth until you reach the dam. There is a small gate and it closes at 8:30pm, no fee. Good spot to bring your fishing pole if you have your fishing license.
If you live in Aurora Colorado you probably know that one of your water sources is from the Aurora Reservoir. The Park and Open Space that surrounds the Reservoir is a Great area to explore. An access point to this area is the South Gate.
