Confirmed from Barking Slopes Conservation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wooded preserve popular for hiking along the Allegheny River, with remnants of a former brickworks.

“Barking Slopes, is a beautiful piece of the land that the Allegheny Land Trust has saved.”
Barking Slopes, is a beautiful piece of the land that the Allegheny Land Trust has saved. Comprised of ridges and steep, wooded slopes, it can be a challenge to hike, but it is worth it. It is located along the Allegheny River, near the Oakmont Country Club.
Barking Slopes is a wonderful place to enjoy a walk between the Allegheny River and your typical steep Pittsburgh slope. The parking lot is properly marked on Google and right next to a railroad. There is one small path that is clear going West.
Great natural area full of diverse wildlife. Good day hike with diverse and beautiful trails. The Allegheny Land Trust is working to improve trails and plant native plants. The trails at the top (near the southern trailhead) are fairly steep but not too difficult.
The trail along the river is swell, if you're fit enough for a few feet of elevation definitely bop around the upper trails. I wasn't expecting it but the bench at the overlook was a nice surprise. Perfect spot to hang for a pb&j and water break.
