Confirmed from Baron Ranch Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Baron Ranch Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (47 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Beautiful trail, mostly well maintained.”

Great hike. Easy grade up to loop, then steeper as you head towards the ridge. Some wildflowers, but not many for January, but the creeks were dry, so bring enough water. No dogs. No Mountain bikes. One other person was on the trail. Would be excellent for trail running. Trails were restored over the last few months.

August 2024 report. I really appreciate that non-motorized mountain bikes are allowed here. For some reason I thought bikes were not allowed here in the past? I rode from the bottom to West Camino Cielo and back via Arroyo Quemado trail (pretty sure I spelled that wrong).

Nice and easy hike until the creek then I would call it moderate. I didn't make the loop. I was hiking in sandals (forgot my hiking shoes). Didn't see a single person.

This is one of those places you don't want to tell anyone about. Besides a hike a few days ago, today we helped by watering the native plants that a local organization had planted. The place is only open Sat to Monday - go there before it gets too hot!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 7 mentions

“This trail is similar to Ocean View Trail or Franklin Trail.”
