Confirmed from Batteries to Bluffs Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“Beautiful trail offering an iconic view of the Golden Gate Bridge, with the option of detouring to quiet beaches with crashing waves.”

👟 good for all levels 3 mentions

“An easy hike, but be aware that there are steps (well-maintained) if you want to go down to Marshall's Beach.”

We started at Lands End Trail and ended at Batteries to Bluffs Trail. The hike was absolutely gorgeous with continuous views of Pacific coastline and Golden Gate Bridge.

★★★★★ — Victor , May 2024

One of my favorite hiking trails in THE WORLD. Breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, the Golden Gate Bridge, and on a clear day, the Farallon Islands and Point Reyes. Sights and smells of wildflowers and native shrubbery. Finally, access to Marshall's Beach, and a mind-clearing stairs walk.

Gorgeous ocean view. It's windy but worth it. Many steps. Some steps are steep. You can connect the trail with the Sand Ladder trail then walk the sand beach to Baker Beach. You can avoid high winds by starting early as winds are gentle before noon.

We did this trail on a slightly cold and rainy day, but I think that added to the charm and serenity of this hike! Stunning views of the bridge all the way, beautiful wildflowers along the path and the meditative experience of the beach is bliss.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 31 mentions

“A great hiking trail, many people ride here, you can see the Golden Gate Bridge from different angles, you can also see the Pacific Ocean from afar, the view is very wide.”
