Confirmed from Bell Canyon Boulders Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hikes to the Bell Canyon Reservoir, with views of the valley, flowers, and a waterfall, plus longer hikes to Twin Peaks.
What runners say about Bell Canyon Boulders Trailhead
“I've been here multiple times, it's a beautiful place every step of the way.”
We did this hike with 6 kids ages 4 to 10 and it was a perfect distance. Right when the restlessness started kicking in is when we reached the reservoir. Kids loved watching the ducks and goose while playing on the big rocks. Then they were ready to hike back down!
Love this trail! It leads you to the lower part of the Bell Canyon Reservoir and it does include some climbing uphill but not for long. As you go up, you can also get the overview of Sandy.
The Bell Canyon Boulder Trailhead will take you to Lower Bell Canyon Reservoir. The parking lot is very small, est. 10 cars total; there are no bathrooms at the trailhead. It was 2.37 miles according to my watch.
It’s been years since we did this hike. It was coming back to us that the trails were filled with vegetation growth highlighting the beauty- resilience and narrow dirty trails. Thistles are in some spots, be watchful along the way not to get pricked.
Trail conditions & character
“I think it took us a little less time hiking, but we spent a lot of time hanging out at the falls just enjoying the views so that added a lot of time for us.”
“There are not a lot of parking spots, so I'd recommend you go first thing in the morning or be prepared to start your hike early, having to walk from a farther parking lot.”
“By the way there is a lot of rocks and boulders after the bridge that is a challenge all the way up and a constant incline.”
“The trails were of an uneven surface due to rocky outcrops, resulting in difficulty for movement from the growth of vegetation.”
“Pretty steep stairs at first but after a little while there are options for flat switchback and steep rocky trails.”
“10 cars total; there are no bathrooms at the trailhead.”
