Confirmed from Ben Geren Multi-Use Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Ben Geren Multi-Use Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (66 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“Amazing, clean running trails and beautiful views!”

🐕 dog-walking favorite 3 mentions

“Dog friendly (leash required) and lots to do if you have a family or go solo.”

These are multi-use trails and can be challenging, some are paved and some are just ruts through the woods but they are not very hilly. You may have water crossings, mud holes, high brush and low trees and some very nice views. Enjoy!

Dog friendly (leash required) and lots to do if you have a family or go solo. Nice playground on the east end for kids along with covered picnic areas. Clean restrooms are close by. The paved trail near the disc-golf parking area connects to Chaffee Crossing. I recently took my dog for a walk there and he loves it!

★★★★★ — Anna , Oct 2022

Very nice place for a long walk. Paved trail offers plenty of distance (~7miles) plus another 14 miles of dirt trails for walking or biking. I got absolutely covered in ticks on the dirt trails, but also saw a lot of deer, butterflies, and various reptiles I'm not familiar with.

★★★★★ — Tf , May 2024

Pavement has seen some age, not always a smooth ride for wheels, but lots of benches to sit on along the trail and some newer portions just added. Lake loop was nice.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 9 mentions

“Great park but if you take your dog there on trails just know there are a lot of lone star ticks”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run

  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
