Confirmed from Bohm Woods Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature preserve offering forests & grasslands, including a seasonal 90-acre hunting area.
What runners say about Bohm Woods Nature Preserve
“Private property borders the trail to the east but the boundaries are well marked.”
Trail heads north downhill from the parking lot and turns in a westerly direction. Private property borders the trail to the east but the boundaries are well marked. The trail dead ends so you will need to return the same way unless you decide to explore some.
Stunning spring wildflowers. Very wet and marshy (learned about bottomlands). Good signage and clearly marked trails. Some creek crossings -- hiking boots would have been a better choice than tennis shoes!
I came here for a short hike while on the Illinois side of the river. This is a nice dirt trail through the woods. A little buggy, but manageable on 18 Oct 2024. Be careful of ruts on the steep incline/decline and roots hidden by fallen leaves. The view at the turnaround point was pretty.
This nature preserve has a fairly short loop trail to hike. I'd rate it easy to moderate. It's very muddy in spots after rain though. There are quite a few wildflowers and other things to see along it and it seems they're doing a pretty good job keeping invasive plants from taking over.
