This trail is so nice and is pretty easy hike. Is kids and dog friendly. The parking lot is not that big and is a very trafficked trail, go early and you will find your spot. Also you will find a restroom at the trail head.
This trail is a trail that extends across the old shoreline of ancient Lake Bonneville. It has a rich history with the natives who lived here before other settlers came, along with generations of hikers, explorers, and others wanting to see the sights.
Thurston peak on the Great Western Trail. Brutal at speed. Beautiful. Perfect. Solitude and spartan beyond 3 miles. Mostly non-technical. There's a scramble up the big bowl past the horse camp. Some rock hopping in the transit to Thurston. Wear gators for the woody scrub. Great views along the entire journey.
Super pretty trail with relatively flat terrain (few steep inclines and declines). We went all the way to the Adam’s Canyon hike (after the switchbacks). Not a ton of shade on the hike is the only downside. We had a 7 year old and a 10 year old with us.
