Confirmed from Brecknock County Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Brecknock County Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (1,353 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

“There is also a wonderful playground for kids, in addition to the picnic areas, plenty of parking, and clean bathrooms.”

As of 5/12/21 The playground is open. On Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays the Howell Mill Nature Center is open as well from 9a-4p. The nature center is on the north side of the park along the walking trail. It has a bird viewing section and information about local wildlife. There is a bathroom for men and women.

Possibly the best park in the Dover area. Great place to kick back with the kids, or let them run wild and still have good vision from most areas. The picnic area is adequate and clean. The location has public restrooms that are usually clean. The walk path is amazing.

★★★★★ — Robert , May 2019

I like walking in a wooded part of the park. Fast-paced walk to the end of the trail and back (wooded part only) takes about 40 minutes. There is also a wonderful playground for kids, in addition to the picnic areas, plenty of parking, and clean bathrooms.

Love this park! There are volleyball courts, basketball, & of course the main attraction: the humongous wooden jungle gym! So much fun for all ages. There are also easy to medium-difficulty walking trails. It's definitely worth a visit!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
