Confirmed from Broadway Cave's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Broadway Cave

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (30 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“The rocks are hard to hike on but overall a beautiful hike through the cacti!”

👟 good for all levels 3 mentions

“Easy hike up Jacob’s Crosscut trail, but more challenging on the last segment up to the cave.”

Amazing and challenging hike. Very rocky so wear comfortable shoes and bring lots of water. Easy at first but challenging the closer you get to the cave. There is some climbing but it’s not bad. Took us about 2.5 hours out and back with lots of breaks and taking pictures. Beautiful views.

This is a good little trail. It’ll give you some good cardio at the end as you climb the mountain to the cave. Not too strenuous though. I’ve seen quite a few people make it to the top who don’t look to be in good shape. The Broadway Cave is small but interesting.

Its a short hike thats just strenuous enough to make you feel like you did something. Worth it once at the top because that valley view is priceless. My only complaint is that the GPS location is incorrect. Google Maps directs you to a road that is private property.

★★★★☆ — Bronson , Apr 2023

From the point of ascension, ending at the cave entrance can be quite the challenge. The cave itself has its mystery and fair share of graffiti. Vortex energy is present. The view captures the plethora of cacti. The cave itself runs oddly deep, full of layers.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
