Confirmed from Brown County WI Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiker-friendly park with flat trails as well as more challenging ones, plus ponds and a marsh.
What runners say about Brown County WI Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve
“The trails were also beautiful and the facility was a nice activity for the kids to warm up in-between hikes.”
“Great place for the family or a quiet walk by yourself.”
This was my first time here, and my girlfriend and I saw dozens of painted turtles, many of them out on a fallen tree in the water! The hiking trails we did were great as well!
This is a great place to experience nature. There are nice trails (mostly wide gravel) that are easy for families to traverse and longer ones that wind through the woods for hikers. A dash of history is sprinkled in with conservation on the signs posted at different points throughout the park and interpretive center.
The park educators are really welcoming. We talked with Andrew. The trails and other areas are maintained very well. We saw so many birds including geese, baby geese, northern cardinal, woodpeckers, etc
Wonderful nature center, preserve, and sensory walk. Educational and fun. My son brought a net and caught some tadpoles. He compared the stages before putting them back in the pond.
