Confirmed from Buzzard Roost Recreation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“The drive in through the countryside was beautiful; I highly recommend using the "avoid highways" option on Google Maps when navigating in.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“Great place to primitive camp and enjoy some peace and quiet.”

A great, free campsite. About 5-6 sites, each with a fire ring and picnic table. No amenities, which is completely fine, except a vaulted toilet. Could easily fit my truck and cargo trailer. The end of the road is a loop, so you don't have to worry about getting stuck.

This Hoosier National Forest recreation site features a small campground and day use parking with a short trail to scenic views of a broad bend of the Ohio River and rural Kentucky beyond. The no fee campground includes five paved and mostly level back-in sites with picnic tables and fire rings.

This is a great little area to stop for a quick hike and view the waterfalls. If you are looking for more hikes in the areas check out the Hoosier's Hidden Hikes guidebook on Amazon.

I'm not sure if this is normal but there were a lot of really cool full-time travelers here last time I was there. The drive in through the countryside was beautiful; I highly recommend using the "avoid highways" option on Google Maps when navigating in.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
