Confirmed from Castle Rock State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

I’ve lived in the South Bay for 15 years, and this is the first time I’ve visited this place. Castle Rock State Park is an amazing place for outdoor activities! The scenery is absolutely stunning, with numerous beautiful trails suitable for hikers of all levels.

A few weeks ago I hiked the Castle Rock Loop Trail and Saratoga Gap, which were amazing and relatively easy to hike. Parking was easy to find, with many trail maps and guides available. Castle Rock was a pretty amazing sight, interestingly shaped and great for photos.

Super duper beautiful park with some incredible hikes and views! There are quite a few rock formations to climb on, which provide even more great lookout points. I went on a Saturday, arriving at about 11, and parking was a bit hard to find unfortunately. Next time I hike here i’ll try to arrive a bit earlier.

## Ridge Trail Review I recently hiked a moderate to strenuous ridge trail that offered breathtaking panoramic views. The trail was challenging, with steep inclines and uneven terrain, but the scenery made it well worth the effort.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
