Confirmed from Long Ridge Open Space Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (310 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 11 mentions

“Beautiful views too the western mountain ranges, trail is wide and easy but does go downhill making the hike back up difficult.”

🌳 shaded & cool 6 mentions

“It had ample shade due to redwood trees and was very much appreciated by everyone due to sun.”

Excellent place to hike. You get variety of terrain - from shady forest to exposed ridge with beautiful views. There is some elevation and then it’s mostly flat up top. Difficulty - moderate. Parking - free, off highway. No restrooms. Dogs are welcome on certain trails (watch for signs).

Very lighted trafficked trail! There’s multiple conjoining trails and trail heads to make a plethora of different exploratory routes. I hiked the full loop (9.8 miles) and there was a wide range landscapes, from completely shaded to fully exposed.

Favorite place for short hike and view of if the sunset. Very limited side of the road parking and the entrance to the trail is hidden. Watch for Cars when crossing and you can hike or bike to Saratoga gap.

★★★★★ — Sunshine , Dec 2020

It's not on the Long-Ridge Open-Space map, but there's a photogenic "hidden waterfall" where Peters Creek drops into Devil's Canyon. If's about 1.5 miles and 300 feet of elevation from the Long Ridge and Grizzly Flat parking lots.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
