Confirmed from Chip Ross Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Sizable park featuring a 1.5-mi. trail through forests & hilltop prairie with sweeping views.
What runners say about Chip Ross Park
“Beautiful views of Corvallis and a lovely place to take your best friend on a hike.”
A short hiking trail with a great view! There is a church right next to the entrance. One good thing about this one is that it has bike trails. There are benches at certain viewpoint for hikers to take a breath and enjoy the view. Overall the trail should take somewhere between 30-60 mins depending on your pace.
This is a beautiful hike. The gravel parking lot at the trail head is pretty rough and the trail itself is too. This is not a hike that is easily accessible to strollers or anyone who has trouble with uneven and steep ground. Choose the shorter or longer loop. Beautiful trees along the way and a lovely view at the top.
Very beautiful at any time of day. Walk wise it does have a lot of uphill and the trails are not accessible. There are wonderful views and it is a great place to immerse yourself in nature while staying close to the city. I would love to go again.
Very easy to find trail head and parking. The trails were maintained well to walk in regular shoes (we were visiting from out of state and didn't bring hiking shoes).
Trail conditions & character
“The view from the top of Chip Ross gives you a nice view of town where you can spot your favorite local landmarks and even see the three sisters mountains on a clear day.”
“Trail well maintained except for a large amount of dog poop (irresponsible owners) lining the trail on both sides especially near Lester entrance.”
“The gravel parking lot at the trail head is pretty rough and the trail itself is too.”
“This is not a hike that is easily accessible to strollers or anyone who has trouble with uneven and steep ground.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says

- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
