We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Chip Ross Park Trailhead yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Chip Ross Park Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (35 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“It's such a beautiful forest area that's minutes away from all of our homes here in Corvallis.”

Gateway to a beloved Corvallis hiking trail. This trail can be walked as a loop or used as an entry point to hike Mac-Dunn State Forest. The city has worked to remove the Doug Fir and restore this property to oak savanna.

★★★★★ — Tara , Jul 2021

I was looking for a place to ride my e-MTB while visiting my daughter in Corvallis who is studying at OSU. This place fit the bill, while the trails are not too technical it provides nice access for exploring the McDonald Research Forest trails and roads above.

★★★★☆ — David , Nov 2025

I love this area, it combines with the Timberhill natural trail area near 29th Street and the top of kings Blvd. Near WinCo. It's such a beautiful forest area that's minutes away from all of our homes here in Corvallis. There is some construction going on at the end of Kings Blvd.

Trailhead parking lot still in need of repair, the trail is wide and accommodating, and the plants seem managed. Beautiful day for a hike.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 7 mentions

“Come prepared for a steep climb but the view of Corvallis from the top of the hill is worth the effort!”
