Confirmed from Chiwaukee Prairie State Natural Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Chiwaukee Prairie State Natural Area

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (28 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Feeling of good type loneless - you can enjoy birds singing, watch some animals and observe beautiful flora!”

Wow! Beautiful place to visit. We took a prairie field walk with a naturalist. We identified at least 25 prairie plants. Learned so much about prairies, plants and animals. Please support them. Volunteer for work days or just visit a fabulous place.

★★★★★ — Janine , Jun 2025

If you go hiking in the fog, millions of intricate spider webs are easily visible. Including various orbweavers. Untouched and untamed hiking.

★★★★★ — Rita , Sep 2025

Chiwaukee Prairie is a beautiful SNA with three main trails. However, there needs to be work done to improve informational signage and property boundaries.

★★★★★ — Amber , Mar 2024

It was nice. Bring deet. We had to remove 11 ticks before even halfway through our walk and just ended up turning around

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
