Confirmed from Clayton Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
County park on 422 acres of rolling farmland, offering trails for hiking, biking & horseback riding.
What runners say about Clayton Park
“Very well maintained trails, really well designed for riders who like climbs, and downhill lines that will have you white knuckling those handlebars.”
“Clayton Park encompasses a beautiful forest stand with super old trees, which are truly magnificent.”
“The tr as is are well kept and clearly marked.”
A nice park with trails, a soybean field, archery & deer hunting. There is a creek and a pond. Good for experienced hikers as the path to the bridge over the creek is very steep and was a bit muddy, so I avoided it. Saw some other hikers and bikes on the paths
One of my favorite parks in Central NJ! The trails are well taken care of and there are many options. If you want an open field they have a trail for that as well as all the trails in the woods. There’s also a nice little lake that you can take a seat at a bench and admire.
Clayton Park encompasses a beautiful forest stand with super old trees, which are truly magnificent. The trails follow the undulations of the terrain, so one gets better exercise than when just walking on level ground. This park is sooo good for the soul!!
Loved it. The trails are really nice and it doesn't get very crowded. Great for a bike ride or just hiking. It's a nice hidden gem that I'm glad we came across. It does have some advanced trails so if it's your first time riding here or just in general... Take it a little slower till you warm up to the turns.
Trail conditions & character
“Trails are mostly packed dirt with some sandy spots, not too technically challenging but hilly enough to raise your heart rate 😁”
