Coachella Valley Preserve is a treasure off the beaten path outside Palm Springs. A hurricane has damaged the preserve's board walk loop that had been a main attraction. However, what remains is still worth a stop. We hiked up one of the trails that overlooks the area.
Well worth stopping here. You can go on some short walks or make it longer. There was a volunteer to answer questions. It had such a tropical feeling with the beautiful palms. Is also right on the San Andreas Fault! Also free, but they will take donations
I cannot recommend the Coachella Valley Preserve enough. If you’re in the Palm Springs area, this is an absolute must-visit. It feels like a true mirage—one minute you’re in the arid desert, and the next you’re walking through a lush forest of towering California Fan Palms.
Ww hiked about 5 miles along the ridge, down into valleys, into Oasis, up to a flat grassland area, and back down the ridge. Great variety of terrain and views. We got there around 7am, very few people. It's worth the effort!
