Confirmed from Deep Creek Lock Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
25 acres of waterfront woods with a canoe launch, volleyball courts, picnic shelters & a play area.
What runners say about Deep Creek Lock Park
“The play ground is very nice and equipment is in great condition.”
“Beautiful, coming in by boat, just past the locks, on the southern side is a small dock with power, free for 24 hours.”
“The path from the Ruitan Club side is mostly shady till you get to the bridge then shady again once you turn toward the park.”
“Calm between Canal and wetland Good picnic shelters and playground Follow a path to the end Of the little peninsula Or, find a feathered friend”
This is a pretty nice mid sized park. It's not too busy and there's a parking lot. There's a children's playground, two viewing towers, a little bridge, a couple benches and shelters, a wee little cemetery, and a dock. There were people kayaking or canoeing when I went and it sounded like they were having a good time.
The path from the Ruitan Club side is mostly shady till you get to the bridge then shady again once you turn toward the park. Dirt path with roots at the beginning then the wooden bridge and causeway till park which is grassy.
Beautiful, coming in by boat, just past the locks, on the southern side is a small dock with power, free for 24 hours. The park is nice. It's within walking distance of a food lion, 7-11, advance auto, a citco if you need fuel and have wheels.
This is a great place for kids and grown ups nice walks on paths around the water..

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
