Confirmed from Del Valle Lake Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 16 mentions

“On a bright Wednesday afternoon, my partner and I decided to go on a hike, and where better than the beautiful Del Valle.”

Beautiful trail especially in spring. The elevation is a bot high and intense. Slow down and enjoy the view.

★★★★★ — Young , Mar 2024

Great Lake view and golf course view! A moderate hike lead to gorgeous lake view up from the hill. The trail is suitable for all kinds of groups. Hiking with family and friends is fun.

★★★★★ — Joshua , Mar 2022

A Piece of Heaven on Earth—that's exactly how I felt when we visited this place blessed by nature. Every mile traveled to get here is absolutely worth it, no matter where you're coming from.

★★★★★ — Jeff , Apr 2025

Great place to hike and mountain bike. Beautiful scenery. If you’re mountain biking, you may want to begin on the other side. The left side of the lake is only available for use. The right side hasn’t been built. But the left side has complete bike trail and complete fire road.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 31 mentions

“We did the basic trail from the parking lot to the famous tree at the top of the mountain, overlooking the lake, and that alone was already an unforgettable experience.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
