Confirmed from Del Valle Regional Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Vast nature preserve featuring trails, campgrounds & a sizable lake with beaches & boat launches.
What runners say about Del Valle Regional Park
“Well maintained hiking trails (use AllTrails) that wind through Bay & Oak trees, up and over ridges and across creeks.”
“The park is centered around the gorgeous Lake Del Valle, which offers stunning views and plenty of opportunities for kayaking, fishing, picnicking, or simply relaxing by the water.”
“There are ample shaded areas, quiet nooks to unwind, and even spots where you can see wildlife like deer and wild turkeys if you’re lucky.”
I chose this like because it was dog friendly, and about an hour from my house. I felt like this was something that was doable in terms of distance and elevation on a quick day hike. Note to self the parking situation was not to be desired. There is a parking lot, but it fills up quickly.
Del Valle Regional Park is an absolute treasure tucked away in the rolling hills near Livermore — a perfect escape for nature lovers, hikers, and families alike! We’ve visited a few times now, and every trip feels like a mini vacation.
I hiked Lake Del Valle Trail on 1/4/2025 roughly 14.6 miles (23.5 km) loop It was a long and Hard because the rain, can be strenuous due to distance and rolling terrain. It took me 6½ hours because I walked on my own pace & breaks. The elevation Gain was 2,300 ft .
Went fishing and had a nice experience navigating the lake on a 13' boat, docks are easily accessible but inspections are required. I wish the inspections were done closer to the dock as I have an inflatable. Fishing wasn't that great, 5 hours not even one bite. ( Fishing for bass) Other people catch trout.
