Confirmed from Des Moines Creek Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Tranquil 2-mile-plus-long trail following a stream and passing through the woods on its way to the beach.

Des Moines Creek Trail 2.8 miles Start: S. 200th Street Easy trail paved in cement runs a long Des Moines Creek to Des Moines Beach park, Marina and Fishing Pier. On this day it just started to snow... and accumulate. Adds a natural white gleem to everything. Quite nice really.

This trail is perfect for so many different things including walking, running, and biking. It is beautiful during every season. If the paved trail bores you, there are several dirt offshoots to explore.

Des Moines Creek Trail is a fantastic spot! There's plenty of parking, and the trail is fully paved, making it perfect for strollers. If you have a kid who's obsessed with planes, this trail is ideal—while you're surrounded by nature, they’ll love watching several planes fly overhead.

What a treat. This was such a beautiful and serene place to visit. There's the pier, the beach, and the trail that runs along the creek. There were lots of friendly people along the way. They have paid parking but it was only $2.50 for two hours which is very reasonable. It's also dog friendly.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
