Confirmed from Dickens Farm Nature Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Dickens Farm Nature Area

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (97 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🌳 shaded & cool 4 mentions

“There is no shade close to the water, but there is a few pavilions closer to the parking area.”

We love Discovery Island play area! It's behind the big box stores and just off of The St Vrain Greenway, SE of the D-Barn.

★★★★★ — Lexi , May 2022

Great place to walk your dogs. Got to see some geese taking their goslings out for a swim!

★★★★★ — Tomas , May 2021

This is a cute park. There is a large grassy area to set up a tent or a large umbrella. There is no shade close to the water, but there is a few pavilions closer to the parking area. The beach near the stream is a great place for kids to cool down and play in the water.

★★★★★ — Levi , Jul 2020

Super lovely park and a great place to start along the Greenway. I love sitting on the rocks beside the creek and dipping my feet in on a hot day. The atmosphere is serene and Peaceful, especially for the middle of Longmont

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
