Confirmed from Dierkes Lake Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Dierkes Lake Park
“Restrooms were present and rather clean.”
“There is also rather scenic a hiking trail that spans the coast of the lake.”
“There are large rock cliffs for all ages to jump from into the water.”
Nice little park. Great spot for swimming. Seems family friendly. Also, a good place for people to go fishing for fun. Overall, it is pretty well maintained. But it can get crowded on the weekends with big families and parties and whatnot.
Beautiful place, except, quite a bit of dog poop along the trail. People need to pick up after their dogs!
The best kept secret in Twin Falls! We stumbled across this awesome recreation area thanks to a suggestion from a local. You can swim, paddle board and there is even a playground to pass the time in the day. There is a small dock to launch your kayak or small paddle board.
We loved the hike around the lake. There is plenty of parking and the trail is marked very clearly. There are many viewpoints and little features you can see on the walk. There is some elevation gain and stairs but the trail is mostly a reasonable difficulty. The trail is well maintained.
Trail conditions & character

“00 to enter and you want to go early (once the parking lot fills up they stop allowing visitors to enter).”
“There are no dogs allowed, and no alcohol allowed, but many people bring bbqs and chairs, blankets, and floating things.”
“There are porta potties near the trailhead which is nice.”
Plan your run at Dierkes Lake Park
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
