Confirmed from Dixon Meadow Preserve - Dixon Meadow House's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Dixon Meadow Preserve - Dixon Meadow House

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (80 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“Beautiful place with clean solid accessible path to walk on.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“Beautiful nature preserve with a boardwalk over a small pond and wetlands.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“I enjoy it for the peace and quiet and for photographing birds.”

I have not been in the house. I explore the Dixon Meadow Preserves on the same grounds that the house is built on. There is no cost to do so, but parking is limited. It is good for people who want a short little walk and watch birds who are local to the area. There are paved paths and a boardwalk.

Nice bird sanctuary located on a farm. Found a Blue Grosbeak and gold finches while there. Well maintained little loop and boardwalk

I'm not from around here, but I very much enjoyed this spot while I was in the area. It has a grassy part that is perfect for walking barefoot (no dogs, so no poop to worry about).

★★★★★ — Sara , Oct 2023

This is a wonderful place for the whole family to enjoy a nature walk. The boardwalk and paved areas are accessible. Mockingbirds, red-winged blackbirds, and many other birds are abundant. There are also plenty of bunnies, frogs, and butterflies to enjoy among the flora.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
