Confirmed from Duwamish Hill Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Grassy park featuring interpretive trails and viewpoints, plus sweeping vistas.
What runners say about Duwamish Hill Preserve
“From the top there are terrestrial views of the local area and a beautiful view of Mount Rainier.”
More than just a “hill,” this little park is a meandering and gentle climb with several viewpoints. Views of the Duwamish River and Mt. Rainier are interspersed with ancient, rocky outcroppings that offer glimpses into our geological past.
I was in the area and saw this hill on the map. I'm glad I checked it out because it is a fun mini-hike to the summit, around 5 to 10 minutes and plenty of different paths to choose from. At the top there is a glimpse of downtown Seattle to the north, and a good view of the surrounding area.
Great place to take a stroll and learn about the Duwamish tribe. Great views of Mount Rainier from the top of the hill. The Seattle Police shooting range is nearby and can be a little distracting... duwamish river is across the street and a great place to view wildlife.
This little park is a gem. Two sections. One is a plot of flat land below the hill with a short interpretive trail highlighting the fauna within this unique micro-climate. The hill itself is a geological point of interest in that it’s ancient bedrock. There are trails, benches, and firepits at various points.
