Confirmed from Elizabeth Mills Riverfront Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Secluded, historic area on the water offering wooded hiking trails, picnic spots & kayaking areas.
What runners say about Elizabeth Mills Riverfront Park
“Beautiful views great opportunities for photo opportunities and a great way to explore nature and wildlife.”
“When I visited this after, it was windy, quiet and peaceful.”
20240420 Can't believe I have been here in 6 years. I hiked the trail today, and it was a real nice hike along the Potomac River. Spotted a snake in the base of the tree. Might want to keep your kids and pets on the trail. 6 years ago...
Interesting park. It squeezes in between the water, and a golf course. My kids even picked up a few golf balls on the hike. It was a nice walk... But not a wilderness hike by any means. The parking lot is small, and tucked behind a residential neighborhood, but ok.
Great hiking trails along the Potomac. If you want to hang out and access the river, get there early. The best spots fill up early. The day we went was so perfect, warm temps, no humidity, no wind. Magical.
It is a big park that has a trail and a golf course. The trail goes along the Potomac River. The trail goes all the way to Bles Park if you go to the right. It goes along Goose Creek if you go to the left. You have to go across the golf course to get to the entrance of the trail.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
