Confirmed from Enchanted Rock State Natural Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Dramatic 425-ft. pink granite monolith & wilderness area offering hiking, climbing, camping & more.

Only a nice 20 min drive north of Fredericksburg this is a great way to pass a few hours. You need to book a 2 hour entry slot in advance so we went for the 8.30 to 10.30 slot, which was ideal as it started to get busy as we were leaving.
Batholiths landscape… We visited Enchanted Rock State Natural Area on March 1, 2026. The park rangers are very polite and helpful. We hiked the Inner Loop which is a moderately easy loop trail.
I have been to Enchanted Rock more times than I can remember, but still cannot ever get my fill of hiking and exploring this chunk of rock. The fist time I came here was when I was my oldest son’s age, and it is such a pleasure sharing those same trails with my family now.
Blown away with the view!!! We’re not super experienced hikers and we made it to the top in about 45 minutes. The park is clean, easy to navigate, and the trails are clearly marked. This was definitely a highlight of our trip to the Hill Country. I 100% recommend visiting Enchanted Rock.
Trail conditions & character
“We started the loop through Echo Canyon, which is surrounded by granite formations, and climbed to the top of the granite dome for the sunset view.”
“This is one of those hikes that doesn’t get much warning…it’s a straight incline, so be extra careful when walking down.”
“There are multiple hiking trails in this park, most notable among which are the Summit Trail and Loop Trail (the two we could cover in roughly 2-3 hours).”
“Also, there are times when water is scarce, but the park will bring in porta-potties.”
“We had our dog with us so we’re only allowed to go on the loop trail (about 4.”
“8 mile hike to the peak so it's very short.”
“Apart from a few rocky sections it's mostly a smooth rock surface and pretty steep in places but walkable all the way.”
