Confirmed from Fantasy Canyon's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Fantasy Canyon

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (451 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“These rocks are beautiful but delicate, definitely more “look with your eyes” than “climb like a monkey.”

🌳 shaded & cool 5 mentions

“This area is not shaded and does not take more than an hour or two to walk the trails.”

Captain’s Log, Stardate: Whenever-Google-Maps-Says. We’ve ventured to the desolate reaches of Utah, far from civilization, where the only amenities are a pit toilet, thank the Federation, and whatever rations you bring yourself. Provisions are mandatory; replicators not included. The landscape is… otherworldly.

The geology and cultural significance of Fantasy Canyon are incredibly interesting. Fantasy Canyon is beautiful. This area is not shaded and does not take more than an hour or two to walk the trails. I recommend plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat. It is a long drive out to Fantasy Canyon, but it is worth it.

10**** Fantasy Canyon is a must-visit destination. The geological formations are incredible and truly unique, making it a magical experience for both kids and adults. The drive to get there is a bit long, but the journey is worth it. The dirt road, although slightly rough, is manageable.

Incredible! At first there's a pretty good designated path to follow. However, that quickly fades away and you are left to determine your own way. This area is extremely beautiful. What a unique and cool thing to find in the middle of nowhere.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
