Confirmed from Father Tortora Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Dog-friendly

Large, clean, enclosed park featuring play areas, a track, swings and picnic tables.

What runners say about Father Tortora Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (187 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 7 mentions

“It's well maintained clean and even has toys that are left there for the kiddos to play with.”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“This park has been renovated and features a lot of amenities from all ages.”

Cute little nook with a nice looking playground, hidden behind the fifth precinct—with views of the Great Patchogue Lake. We rode our bikes past it…like we’ve done many times, this time however, we stopped to check out the park.

It's a great park. They have rubber floor tiles instead of wood chips, which is great. And the walking path around the park is nice. It's completely gated in with multiple entry points. I wish it was a little more baby friendly. There is only one baby swing.

This best part of this playground is that it is fenced-in which is greatly important with young children who tend to run off. They have a basketball court, playground equipment suitable for younger and older children, they have a tire swing as well as a special swing where the parents can face the child.

Excellent neighborhood park. Only negative is each day at 6am a man allows his large German shepherd run loose as he bikes around park. Dog seems well behaved but he is large and when he start barking and getting close it becomes scary. I guess I could complain that dog is loose but I really like animals.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
