Confirmed from Fiery Gizzard State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (437 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 10 mentions

“Wonderful place to hike around and tons of great views and areas.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“View of the pool, falls and semi circle of warn limestone falls face is peaceful and worth the effort.”

A beautiful park to camp and hike. Stayed here for 3 days and nights and had a great time. The campground in which I stayed was .5 miles away from the waterfall. To hear the sound of it at night is so peaceful. I would come back here again to experience this wondrous park once more.

This is a very underrated state park with incredible hiking and waterfalls galore. Hike the Fiery Gizzard Trail for an awesome day hike, one of the 10 best trails I’ve hiked and I’ve hiked all over the country for years. Not crowded either, this park flies under the radar for sure.

Loose collection of nature feature near Monteagle TN. Mostly natural waterfalls. Main office is just place to explain where/what other sites offer plus store, meadow trail and paper maps. You can skip this site but your phone will probably not work everywhere so the paper map is valuable.

We have visited the Meadow Trail at South Cumberland State Park multiple times now in every season and it never disappoints. My kids love it, even my teenager! The moment you step onto the trail it feels magical. Last year’s story along the path was a hit and we were so excited to see a brand new one this year.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
