Confirmed from Firelands Rails to Trails' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Firelands Rails to Trails

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (95 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“Very clean quiet trail enjoyed my ride would recommend for any family that would like to take a bike”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“I biked in mid-Spring from Norwalk to Bellevue, and as I biked I thought how beautiful everything would be when wheat and corn crops were grown and golden.”

Although I favor paved trails, this crushed packed stone was easy to ride, even with a street bike. The trail offers much time for personal time to heal, refresh and recharge if you bike solo. There are so many farms and fields that put you into a different frame of mind.

Great place to bike or walk. Dogs can be walked on a leash. The trail has crushed stone and is usually kept clean & maintained. You are able to social distance. There are sections with trees overhead that make it cooler in the sunny weather. There is an open area after Halfway Road; however, trees are ahead again.

We did this trail yesterday, (5/16/21); and we enjoyed the scenery for sure. The actual trail not so much. Not a fan of stone gravel when biking; but nonetheless; the entire experience was wonderful. We probably would NOT do this trail again. We especially enjoyed our stop at the Monroeville Depot Museum.

It is a nice crushed limestone path. Lots of nature to view. There are some street crossings. We only went a few miles on the trail but enjoyed what we rode. We used the depot trailhead.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🪨 Crushed gravel / limestone 5 mentions

“There were spots where the pea gravel was a bit thick, so you have to be careful, but other than that it's a great ride.”

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
