Confirmed from Fish Lake Regional Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Only 6 miles from our home, this is a wonderful little kayaking, fishing, swimming lake. It has a great park with playground equipment too. No motors allowed on boats so it stays peaceful. We especially enjoy seeing the moose standing in the lily pads on the far side to eat. Nice, clean lake.

We've been here quite a few times. Great place during the summer, but keep in mind it gets busy fast. Nice trail for biking or walking. Dog friendly and well maintained. It seems to always be a hot spot, even in cold weather, so keep that in mind. Nice place to take the family to get outside without going too far.

Fish Lake is a very nice county park right next to a great paved bike path (itself a State Park). Lots of area for activities and the mature trees provide plenty of shade. Good spot to bring kiddos to catch sun fish and perch, they might even catch a trout.

A great family-friendly lake. Pet friendly. Picnic friendly. Has paved walkways once you get out of the gravel parking lots.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

“But there is a larger grassy area set back--yet area is narrow and confined, so lack of space and privacy on busy days (too many dogs).”

“The county does not frequently check the restrooms or garbage cans, so these amenities are not great, garbage overflowing during times of heavy use.”

Plan your run at Fish Lake Regional Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
