Confirmed from Fit Strip's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Recreation area with kid-friendly hiking trails and opportunities for cross-country skiing.
What runners say about Fit Strip
“Well maintained and a fun little loop to walk, bike or xc ski in the winter it's even lit at night”
“You'll find lots of paths to stroll or jog or run through the beautiful foliage and shrubs and trees of Marquette.”
Went cross country skiing at the Fit Strip in Marquette MI, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Had a really good time. There wasn't quite enough snow to put down a decent track but there was enough to ski and enjoy ourselves.
Excellent lighted loop at night for cross country skiiing. It was not the smoothest trail because I think many people come here to walk, so you have to pave a way for your skis.
The trails here are fun to have a walk on. It is great to go through the woods and enjoy the outdoors in town and the connection to the cemetery is nice so you can get a peaceful walk.
I walk in the fit strip quite often. It's right in the heart of the city, but in the center-most trails and off trail you can't even hear it. It's well-groomed and beautiful in every season, with a variety of flora and fauna.
Trail conditions & character
“One terrific feature is that the trails are lit with lights for night skiing which is really cool.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
