Confirmed from Mt. Marquette Overlook's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Mt. Marquette Overlook

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (304 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 21 mentions

“Once you’re up there though it’s absolutely stunning - being able to overlook the entire town and see the water beyond it is so cool!”

Very scenic overlook of Lake Superior. Easy parking and not far to walk. My 86 year old mom was able to do it with a slight pull and push up a couple steps, but she did it. My nephew got a couple beautiful shots with his drone, but unfortunately I didn't have those to share.

The drive up is steep and fun. This would be an amazing workout as a walk, ruck or run!! Beautiful, quiet place. Reminds me of similar spots in Maine and New Brunswick. A great spot for a picnic! The view is of course why people drive up the mountain but the vista itself is gorgeous.

As signs state the drive is steep, not paved, and one way… it wasn’t bad for my AWD sedan but don’t ignore those signs and definitely don’t go up in the rain if you aren’t equipped (not sure if they close it during rain or not).

The overlook itself is very nice. The road up to the overlook needs more signage that's clear. It should say gravel road, pot holes, and steep grades before you enter it. Also, if you go up to the lookout be aware that the road is also one way, you need to enter it from the east and you exit on the west side.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
