Confirmed from Forest Park Nature Center's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Review Date: September 29th, 2013 I remember coming here a few times as a kid on field trips. It was awesome as kid. They taught us about animals, bugs, nature and everything else outdoorsy. Then we got to hike a smaller trail as a group. Maybe this is what caused me to be such an avid outdoors person.

I grew up hiking the trails here. I've lived in a lot of places since then and I haven't found another park that as successfully pairs convenient location with quality natural habitat. Seeing deer and/or turkey on the trails is as close to guaranteed as you can get with nature.

Best part of all, dogs are prohibited!!!! Beautiful, scenic park. Extremely well maintained trails. Fun for kids to explore the area. The volunteers in the Nature Center were very friendly and helpful. Parking was adequate when we got there, but by the time we left, it was packed.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
