Confirmed from Grand View Drive's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Scenic thoroughfare with river views and parks, plus a WWI memorial.
What runners say about Grand View Drive
“Winding well maintained road with beautiful river valley views on one side and magnificent houses on the other.”
We were part of a group that walked West in Devil's creek about 15 minutes. There we saw some small "Caves" that we could sit in It was a fun trip/walk.
Park in one of the convenient locations along the drive and take a short or not so short walk. Look in one direction and get terrific views of the Illinois River. Look in the other direction and take in some pretty impressive homes. Take a break on one of the benches scattered along the way.
Beautiful views and safe sidewalks to run on. I saw a trail that sort of follow the roadway from below but didn’t have the right shoes to go run off-road. I recommend and will return.
Grandview drive is just what it's called. If you've never been it runs from prospect road in Peoria Heights to state route 29 by the Illinois river. Winding well maintained road with beautiful river valley views on one side and magnificent houses on the other.
