We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Pimiteoui Trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Pimiteoui Trail
“A moderately strenuous hike from in a nice neighborhood--several hills to ascend/descend, and has a few scenic views beginning with the trailhead that overlooks the lake.”
Beautiful! I saw deer, squirrels, and praying mantis. I'm a bit out of shape and still managed to walk the whole trail. I did, however, question my life choices when having to walk uphill. I'd definitely walk it again though.
I have hiked this trail many times throughout my life. It is definitely not a "leisurely stroll". Make sure to bring sturdy hiking boots and be prepared to hike uphill for significant time and at fairly steep grades. Starting at the Grandview Drive Trailhead, the trail takes you down the bluff with two switchbacks.
Because of the inclines I think starting at the Grandview side is probably more enjoyable if you're planning on hiking to one point (Forest park entrance) and back; so that the toughest part is near the beginning of your hike. I loved the trail and had a beautiful deer leap out across the path along the way.
Definitely a moderate hike. Lots of inclines and declines, not a lot of flat path, but a beautiful hike. Definitely recommend!
